Health written question – answered at on 13 September 2010.
To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he plans to review the use of private finance initiative projects in the NHS; and if he will make a statement.
There are currently no plans to review the use of the private finance initiative (PFI) as a procurement vehicle in the national health service. The Department will continue to encourage the NHS to consider a PFI option alongside a publicly funded option in business cases for new build hospital schemes and proceed with the option that offers best value for money.
