My hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice and I have discussed the use of the Community Payback Scheme to collect litter from the verges of motorways and trunk roads in England.

The Highways Agency will take part in wider discussions with the Ministry of Justice on the type of work that can be undertaken by offenders on Community Payback including litter clearance on highways.
