Education written question – answered on 6th September 2010.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education over what period schools may apply to become academy schools.
A school may register interest for academy status at any time but must submit an application to convert, to the Department, at least three months before the proposed opening date.
Primary and secondary schools that have been rated outstanding overall in their most recent Ofsted inspection are able to apply to convert to academies. The application process for other schools will open at a later date.
