To ask the Secretary of State for Defence

(1) when he expects the General Service Respirator to come into service;

(2) what his most recent estimate is of the costs his Department will incur under its General Service Respirator contract.

The Ministry of Defence approved £63.9 million for the delivery of 300,000 sets of the General Service Respirator (GSR) in 2004. The GSR is expected to enter service over the summer; the project remains within its cost approval.
