Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority Committee written question – answered at on 27 July 2010.
To ask the hon. Member for Broxbourne, representing the Speaker's Committee for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, what system the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority operates to associate emails and letters from hon. Members with the claim to which the correspondence relates.
I have been informed by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority that, in cases where emails or letters seek information about a particular claim, the Information Team extracts information relating to the claim from the online system and uses this to respond to queries. In cases which are not straightforward, the Information Team may speak directly to members of the Validation Team regarding the progress or details of the claim. Where letters or emails cover receipts or other supporting documentation, these are passed directly to the Validation Team.
