To ask the Secretary of State for Justice if he will bring forward plans to create a new criminal offence of intentional trespass to enable people occupying property without the landowner's permission to be removed without the need for a court order.

The Government are considering how the law might be strengthened, not least around intentional trespass but, as yet, no firm decisions have been made. Any change to the law in this area would need to be considered against other commitments in the coalition agreement, and we would need to investigate fully the public service resource implications of any change, taking account of the current financial situation.
