To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many overseas students were awaiting a decision on their application for a visa to study in the UK at the latest date for which figures are available; and if she will make a statement.

Our records show that, as of 31 March 2010, there were 28,610 student visa applicants who were awaiting a decision on their applications.
