To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the supervision of the issuing of sequential numbers for electronic identification tags for sheep is centrally based for the whole of the United Kingdom or carried out by each devolved Administration; and, if there is one site, where it is.

Electronic identification numbers (EID) for tags for sheep keepers in Great Britain are issued from the Ear Tag Allocation System operated by the Rural Payments Agency in Workington. In Northern Ireland they are issued from DARD's Animal and Public Health Information System in Belfast. Each EID number includes the keeper's unique flock mark (number) followed by a unique sequential animal number.
