To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government if he will take steps to ensure that local authorities provide allotments under the terms of the Allotments and Small Holdings Act 1908.

The Government recognise that allotments are valuable green spaces and community assets, and policy in this area is currently under consideration.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
