To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what estimate he has made of the change in the number of unauthorised Traveller sites since 1997.

The number of caravans on unauthorised developments has increased from 887 in 1997 to 2,395 in 2010-an increase of 170% over 10 years.
