To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many additional rail carriages have been provided to Northern Rail as part of the High Level Output Specification Process, and how this compares with those allocated to other train operating companies.

18 carriages have been contracted to be operated by Northern Rail as part of the high level output specification process.

Carriages contracted to be operated by other operators are as follows:
