To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government with reference to his plans to introduce a definition of houses in multiple occupation into the Use Classes Order, what estimate he has made of the number of additional planning applications likely to result annually.

We have estimated that there could be an average of 8,500 additional planning applications per year.
