To ask Her Majesty's Government what percentage of the total area of Sites of Special Scientific Interest is in a favourable condition.

The Government have a public service agreement target for 95 per cent of SSSIs by area to be in favourable or recovering condition by December 2010; 90.95 per cent of sites of special scientific interest are now in target condition. This is made up of sites in both favourable and recovering condition. The percentage in favourable condition is 43.37 and that in recovering is 47.57.
