Home Department written question – answered at on 1 February 2010.
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what expenditure his Department has incurred on plans for the containment of the effects of nuclear, biological and chemical agent contamination in each of the last three years; and what estimate he has made of such expenditure in 2009-10.
We do hold figures specifically on the containment of the effects of contamination. Expenditure on work to respond to and recover from a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) terrorist attack, including containment of the effects of contamination, was: £57.5 million in 2007-08; £56.2 million in 2008-09; and £56.1 million in 2009-10 to date.
