To ask the Minister of State, Department for Transport how many vehicles of each type there are registered in the UK.

The following table gives the total number of vehicles by body type licensed in the UK at 31 December 2008.

Motor cycles 1,322.1
Light goods 3,329.5
Heavy goods 543.8
Buses and coaches 186.0
Other vehicles 613.9
Total 35,230.8
