To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the cost of preparing whole of Government accounts was in each year since 2000.

The costs of preparing whole of Government accounts is not readily available, as the information is spread and held across the approximate 1,200 bodies that contribute to the account. The information could not be obtained without incurring disproportionate expense.
