To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many referrals of potential victims of human trafficking have been made to the national referral mechanism by each first responder agency.

Between 1 April 2009 and 31 December 2009 there have been 527 referrals made to the national referral mechanism. The referrals were made by the following agencies:

Local authorities 57
Poppy 27
Kalayaan 19
TARA 9
Migrant Helpline 8
CPS 2
NHS 1
Total 527
