To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families pursuant to the answer of 24 November 2009, Official Report, column 799W, on "Office for Criminal Justice Reform", for what reason data from 1997 to 1999 are currently unavailable in that format.

Live Police National Computer (PNC) data were first collected in 1995. Between 1997 and 1999 work was ongoing to improve the quality of the data collection in order to bring it to a standard sufficient to support the publication of statistics by local authority.

The first year those data became available for publication was for 2000-01.
