In response to the letter of 28 July 2009, the Deputy Director for Economic and Family Migration in the London and South East Region wrote to my right hon. Friend on 27 November 2009.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
