To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government whether he has made an assessment of the value for money of the fees charged by the Audit Commission for auditing the annual accounts of town and parish councils; and if he will make a statement.

We have made no such assessment. It is for the independent Audit Commission, after consultation, to set the fees charged by them for auditing the annual accounts of town and parish councils.
