To ask Her Majesty's Government what is the annual cost of running the Gangmasters Licensing Authority; and what is the breakdown of those costs.

The Gangmasters Licensing Authority's (GLA) running costs for the 2008-09 financial year were £1.368 million1. This covered the cost of the authority's licensing work and operating expenses. In addition to this, the GLA spent a further £2.041 million2 on enforcement which it undertakes on behalf of the Secretary of State for Environment Food and Rural Affairs.
