There must surely be a record of the number of pensioners who receive the fuel allowance while living abroad? After all, 50% of them receive frozen pensions and no fuel allowance (My British state pension was frozen when I lived in Australia and I received no fuel allowance unless I was visiting the UK over Christmas). The other 50% of British pensioners living abroad may or may not receive the fuel allowance. I did read somewhere that they do receive it, along with their full pension if they live in Europe or the USA. However, someone makes the decision to send the money or not send the money and it will be recorded somewhere will it not!

I agree with Dian Elvin. I for one do not receive fuel allowance yet we sorely need one during our hot summer when temperatures often reach 40 degrees. We suffer a "double whammy" because although our winter seems short temperatures frequently drop to Zero! The DWP tell us that they save no money when relieved from paying us fuel allowance and etc.Perhaps if they did their sums like Dian requests they would find out just how much they do save. They are of course reluctant to disclose information like that for fear of letting the cat out of the bag!
