To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what estimate she has made of the cost of the regional assemblies in England is in 2009-10.

The estimated cost of the regional assemblies and successor bodies for 2009-10 is £18 million.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
