To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many social tenants in each local authority area have bought a share in their home through the Social HomeBuy scheme to date.

The following table shows the number of Social HomeBuy sales in each local authority area between April 2006 and March 2009. Social HomeBuy is a voluntary and demand-led scheme in which only some social landlords chose to participate. It is one of a suite of options designed to help social tenants into home ownership. Purchasers can buy shares of between 25 and 100 per cent.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
