To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the construction of a prototype database for the proposed Communications Data Bill is under way; if so, how it will be tested; and how much will be spent on the prototype exercise.

The work of the interception modernisation programme has not included the construction of a prototype database. The Government will shortly launch a public consultation on options for how communications data may support public protection in the future.
