Environment Food and Rural Affairs written question – answered at on 26 February 2009.
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what assessment he has made of the operation of the single farm payment scheme; and if he will make a statement.
I am pleased to confirm that the Rural Payments Agency met the first of its formal targets for payments under the 2008 single payment scheme, to pay 75 per cent. by value by the end of January, and is on course to meet its next target, to pay 90 per cent. by value by the end of March. Latest figures show that just under £1.37 billion (84.35 per cent.) has been paid to nearly 96,000 customers (over 90 per cent.)
