To ask the Secretary of State for Health what progress has been made on meeting the new targets for the provision of information on contraception in the Quality and Outcomes framework.

Three new contraception indicators were agreed as part of the new general practitioners contract arrangements that will operate from 2009-10 negotiations. Practices will begin to work towards achievement of the new contraception indicator in the Quality and Outcomes Framework from 1 April 2009. Achievement data will be published in September 2010 by the NHS Information Centre for health and social care.
