Home Department written question – answered on 3rd February 2009.
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much on average it has cost her Department to manage a request made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 since 2006.
The average cost of managing Freedom of Information requests is not routinely calculated by the Home Office and the information requested can only be provided at disproportionate cost.
An assessment of the cost of Freedom of Information within Government can be found in Frontier Economics 2006 report "Independent Review of the Freedom of Information Act". A copy of this report is available in the House of Commons Library.
