To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of the cost of providing all mental health unit beds in single sex accommodation.

The Department estimated the cost of achieving 100 per cent. single bedrooms in mental health trusts and community with mental health trusts as being £3.9 billion at current prices earlier this year.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
