In addition to the normal asylum and humanitarian routes, victims of trafficking are provided with a 30-day reflection period and extended stay and support is available if they co-operate with a criminal investigation. The Government have committed to ratify the Council of Europe Convention Against Trafficking in Human Beings by the end of the year. This will see the introduction of a 45-day minimum recovery and reflection period for all identified victims and temporary one-year renewable residence permits in certain circumstances.
