To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many residential property transactions there have been, according to HM Revenue and Customs records, by number and value, in (a) England and Wales and (b) the United Kingdom in each month in 2008.
Figures for the number of residential property transactions with a value of £40,000 or above by month are published on the HMRC website as National Statistics:
