To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform how many complaints his Department has received from consumers dissatisfied with the service they received from an organisation offering tattoos and/or tattoo removals in the last three years.

Consumer Direct, a Government backed telephone and on-line advice service has recorded 517 complaints from consumers relating to businesses offering tattoos and body piercing between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2007.

BERR do not maintain a separate database of consumer complaints about traders.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
