To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform what research he has (a) commissioned and (b) evaluated on the effect of mark-to-market value on the price of energy.

The Government are aware of a wide range of academic and industry studies which look at energy prices and meet regularly with experts to discuss prices and other market issues. However the Department has not specifically evaluated or commissioned research solely on the impact of mark-to-market value on the price of energy.
