To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many persons (a) under 16 and (b) from 16 to 18 years of age (i) are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 and (ii) were detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 in each of the last five years.
The Department does not collect the information requested.

If as the Government state it is their priority to look at Suicide Prevention especially in the highest risk group of "young men", why doesn't the Dept collect this information?
What part of the requested stats should be part of the remit and therefore the responsibility of the Office of the National Director for Mental Health?
