To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families if he will estimate the proportion of the education budget which was (a) devolved directly to schools, (b) devolved directly to local authorities and (c) allocated by his Department in 2007-08; and if he will make a statement.

The information requested is not yet available. The Department is currently updating this information for its 2008 departmental annual report due to be published at the end of May. I shall write to the hon. Member as soon as the information is available.
