Communities and Local Government written question – answered at on 25 April 2008.
To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how much greenfield land would be developed in respect of each of the 15 shortlisted eco-town proposals.
In the recently published consultation document "Eco-towns—Living a greener future" we have provided a description of the shortlisted locations and this demonstrates that many make significant use of previously developed land. However in some cases development on greenfield land provides the best opportunities and may be appropriate. All the shortlisted locations for eco-towns are subject to consultation and further assessment.
