To ask the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills what the net value of the student loan book is.

The balance of publicly-owned student loans on 31 March 2007 was £18.1 billion, including loans not yet due for repayment. This figure relates to English domiciled students and graduates who studied in the UK, and EU students and graduates who studied in England.
