To ask the Secretary of State for Justice pursuant to the Answer of 31 March 2008, Official Report, column 555W, on crime: victims, what terms of employment or appointment were specified for the post of commissioner for victims and witnesses in the recruitment exercise.

The recruitment exercise carried out in 2006 for the post of Commissioner for Victims and Witnesses suggested a salary in the region of £120,000 depending on the knowledge, experience and skills of the successful candidate.

The Domestic Violence Crime and Victims Act 2004 required that the period of appointment must not exceed five years.

The recruitment exercise was carried out in accordance with the Code of Practice For Public Appointments.
