I announced the results of the Gateway 2 process on 17 March. This year's applications were stronger as a result of the considerable development work carried out by the consortiums themselves over the last year. This resulted in a higher number of successful applications: 58 per cent. of lines of learning were approved for delivery from 2009, and 25 per cent. for delivery from 2010, and 17 per cent. were asked to reapply.
