To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what assessment she has made of the level of affordable social housing required in new housing developments in Lancashire to meet local needs.

The Government are aware of the shortages of affordable houses in many parts of the north-west, including Lancashire and South Ribble.

Providing affordable housing to meet the needs of local areas is a Government priority.

Local authorities are best placed to assess the specific need in their areas, and the Government has helped authorities in Lancashire to do this by funding an independent housing market assessment.
