To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what plans he has to introduce free vitamin supplements for prisoners.

There are no plans to introduce free vitamin supplements for all prisoners in England and Wales. The National Audit Office report HM Prison Service Serving Time: Prisoner Diet and Exercise (HC 939, 2005-06) noted that, on the whole, meals offered to prisoners were in line with the Government's recommendations on energy and nutrients.
