Defence written question – answered at on 19 February 2008.
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what assessment his Department has made of the effectiveness of the mine/improvised explosive device resistant vehicles in service with British forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We continually keep the effectiveness of our vehicle fleet in Iraq and Afghanistan under review in order that UK forces are properly protected against the continually evolving threat, including that from mines and improvised explosive devices. I am withholding the detail of the relative protection of different vehicle types as its release would, or would be likely to, prejudice the capability, effectiveness or security of the armed forces.
