To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland for what reasons Thomas Purcell was transferred from Maghaberry prison in Northern Ireland to the young offenders centre at Aylesbury.

Thomas Purcell applied for a transfer to serve the remainder of his sentence in England. The transfer of prisoners between UK jurisdictions is governed by Schedule 1 to the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997, as set out in PQ UIN 186443, also answered today.
