To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how many (a) investigations and (b) prosecutions there were under the Harassment Act 1997 in each year since the Act came into force.

Information covering defendants proceeded against under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 since the act came into force on 16 July 1997 has been provided in the table. Data are provided on the principal offence basis and cover the period from 1997 to 2006 in England and Wales.
