To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment he has made of the likely effect of the pre-Budget report proposals for capital gains tax on housing affordability.
The Government take a range of factors into consideration when formulating tax policy, and keep all of the relevant issues under review. The tax regime is just one of a number of factors that influence housing affordability.
