To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what the cost of legal aid in the UK was in each of the last 10 years.

The cost of legal aid in England and Wales and in Northern Ireland for each of the last 10 financial years is shown in the following table. Responsibility for legal aid in Scotland is devolved and is therefore a matter for the Scottish Parliament.
