To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what the reasons are for the length of time taken to appoint a new chair of the Youth Justice Board; and if he will make a statement.

The Secretary of State for Justice and the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families issued a written ministerial statement on Tuesday 15 January 2008 announcing the appointment of Frances Done CBE as chair of the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales. The appointment will be for three years from 1 February 2008 to 1 February 2011.
