To ask the Secretary of State for Justice whether reduction of re-offending is an aim of offender behaviour programmes.

Yes. One of the intended aims of offending behaviour programmes is to reduce re-offending. It aims to do this by contributing to the overall strategy to reduce recidivism by addressing attitudinal and behavioural factors known to be related to re-offending. There is considerable evidence to support the effectiveness of cognitive behavioural programmes in reducing re-offending.
