To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform whether the proposed feasibility study for a Severn Barrage energy scheme will include a full environmental impact assessment.

The feasibility study will include detailed analysis of the environmental impacts of a barrage including mitigation and compensation aspects and compliance with the relevant legislation.

A full environmental impact assessment would need to be carried out by the developer as part of the planning process.
