To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how much his Department paid to Common Purpose in each of the last five years; for what purpose; and what the outcome of the expenditure was.

In 2002 DCMS paid for two of its employees to attend the Common Purpose Spring Programme, at a total cost of £8,460 in order to further develop their leadership skills.

Surely the two employees mentioned should have gained the skills required on their normal route to their promotion if not then others should have been promoted in their place.
Whenever common purpose is involved the same reply is given regardless with no details at all.
The minister also failed to answer the question fully when asked what the outcome was!
Public money when used for what to me seems a rediculas waste should be detailed more adequately.
It makes one wonder when we receive worse service than ever before what kind of training this is and to what ends.
